At some point if it’s useful we can discuss the Marshals apparent outreach to a reporter at the very beginning of the investigation, which we only learned about from the USMS release and which appears to have been in connection with a stand-alone part of the early investigation that was not handled by any current member of the team. (And which miraculously did not result in the entire investigation being blown in its initial weeks.)¶
If of interest, these are the USMS documents that were inadvertently released and are the subject of the NYT piece the press office circulated.¶
