Email exchange between a prosecutor and attorney an attorney about DOJ professional-responsibility inquiry into the plea deal and a victim's willingness to testify.Machine-written summary

Gloria,

Understood, thanks very much for letting us know, and we’ll keep you posted. It may be more time than we otherwise would like just because of the current circumstances, but we’ll keep in touch as always.

thanks again, Alex.

Subject: RE: RE: Epstein investigation

I understand. I was in an intense mediation yesterday and did not even read your email until you corrected it. Also, I did speak to today and she indicated that she would not want to testify at trial, because she wishes to protect her privacy. She would ,however, like me to keep her informed about any plea. I look forward to hearing from you when you are in a position to share information on that subject, if a plea will be accepted in lieu of a trial.

I’m sorry, Gloria, I inadvertently swapped attorneys’ names below, I apologize! But the below was intended to go to you. Apologies again and thanks as always.

Sigrid,

We wanted to briefly let you know that the DOJ Office of Professional Responsibility, which has its own investigation of the original plea deal, may get in touch with you. We are completely separate from them, but we understand that as part of their inquiry into the circumstances of the initial investigation, they may seek to ask some very brief and limited questions about victims’ experiences at that time, potentially including one or more of your clients. We’re not conveying any obligation at all, we just didn’t want it to be a surprise if they reached out.

thank you,

Assistant U.S. Attorney

Southern District of New York
