Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Thanks for reaching out and the heads up. For your awareness: Due to concerns over the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak, uncertain border restrictions, and limited access to adequate medical care in certain affected areas, a 30-day restriction on international official travel for nonessential operations has been implemented for all FBI employees, effective immediately. - This restriction applies to any location outside of the United States (to include all 50 states and the U.S. territories). - All overseas training and temporary duty assignments will be cancelled during this timeframe. If you have urgent operational travel planned outside of the United States (to include all 50 states and the U.S. territories) and need to request an exemption from this restriction, please email your operational unit at FBIHQ and copy as soon as possible. If you determine this trip to be operationally necessary, please seek a waiver through IOD. Once AD Spencer approves your trip you can submit your BEACON and eCC and London will approve. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, EFTA00174964 Subject: Possible witness interview in London --- UNCLASSIFIED Classification: UNCLASSIFIED TRANSITORY RECORD I wanted to touch base with you regarding our Jeffrey Epstein/Ghislaine Maxwell investigation. You had reached out a little over a month ago regarding some public statements made by the US attorney’s office regarding this case. On a slightly separate issue, I wanted to touch base regarding a possible witness in London that is crucial to this investigation. The AUSAs assigned to this case have been in touch with this witness’s attorney and she is cooperative and willing to speak with us in London. Things are tentative right now, based on travel restrictions and such. But I wanted to touch base with you about what you may need from us on our end to make sure things run smoothly. Communication from our AUSAs is that this witness is available on March 19, with the possibility of postponing. Sorry for the delay, B. Wade SSA Criminal Investigative Division / Violent Crime Section Crimes Against Children and Human Trafficking Unit (CACHTU) EFTA00174966 Classification: UNCLASSIFIED ============================================== ## Hey This e-mail is to request approval for the planned foreign travel of Myself and SA . Myself and SA will be traveling to London, England, to interview a critical witness in connection with an investigation into possible violations of 18 U.S.C. §§ 2422 and 2423, among other offenses. We plan to travel between March 17 and March 20, 2020, including expected meetings on March 19, 2020. In connection with the investigation of criminal conduct undertaken by Jeffrey Epstein and certain of his associates, we are investigating whether certain individuals undertook actions within the United States that involved the enticement and/or transportation of minors for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual activity. The witness we intend to interview is a citizen and resident of the United Kingdom and is a potentially crucial witness in our investigation, including being extremely relevant for our imminent determination of whether to charge our main target suspect. Specifically, the witness was the former personal assistant of the target subject and is believed to be an eyewitness of certain sex abuse perpetrated against the sole statutory victim in our investigation. The witness therefore may be able to significantly corroborate the victim as well as to provide additional relevant information, including information required to meet certain elements of the crimes being investigated. Given the critical importance of the witness, and the need to fully debrief the witness over a one-day interview, and potentially a subsequent follow-up interview the following day, it is necessary for both myself and SA to travel to the United Kingdom to participate in the interview as soon as possible. The victim is represented by attorneys located in the United Kingdom, who have identified March 19, 2020, as being the date available to meet with their client in the near future. We expect to be joined by AUSA and for this interview pending their approval. Below are the following travel expenses we expect to incur: Airfare: $696 x 2 ($1392) Hotel: $304 x 2 ($608) Parking: $70 x 2 ($140) Taxi: $100 x 2 ($200) M&IE: $651 x 2 ($1302) Total: $4,250 Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
