Subject: Message from The Warden to ALL STAFF Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2019 18:02:34 +0000 Importance: Normal Attachments: TEXT.htm Inline-Images: IMAGE.jpg Recently, if you watch the news, you will see some things happening around our agency that does not highlight the great work we do each and every day. I just want to remind you that the work you do is important and valued by everyone. Even those who often times don't understand what that work is or they do NOT walk in the shoes we walk in daily. This message is to remind everyone of the policies and protocols we put in place in order to keep people safe! Example; 30 minute irregular rounds, walking and talking, detailed counts, close attention to detail, and being positive, responsive, and proactive while working in a correctional environment. Our message as an Executive Team to everyone is we "Do the Right Thing, at the Right Time, for the Right Reasons"! We ensure this by being caring human beings, charged with a very important task for the responsibility, safety of staff, inmates, and the community. This is an awesome challenge and each and every one of you should be proud and honored to take on. Be cognizant of the message you put out in the community as we are all representatives of this agency. The only person designated to speak with the media is our designated Public Information Officer. Thank you for what you do! At McKean... EFTA00143169 Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone see the below info from on staffing. Note the absence information below. This reflects one of the significant challenges in the NY area, simply getting people to come to work. On Friday August 9 28 officers did not show for work and there were 23 overtime occurrences. So, if everyone came to work, theoretically there would not have been a need for any OT that day. For the two staff in SHU, their OT was as follows: Noel - She worked on 8/9 4pm-12am as her regular shift. She stayed and worked 12am-8am as OT. Prior to 8/9 she had not worked OT since 8/3. EFTA00143170 Thomas - His regular schedule is as a Warehouse Worker Foreman and this is a M-F 8-4 job. He worked OT on 7/30, 8/6, 8/7, 8/9, and 8/10. His OT is all on morning watch 12am-8am. These are all voluntary OT that he signed up for. In addition, this means that he finished his regular shift at 4pm on 8/9 and was off until his OT shift began at midnight. Many staff seek OT in order to supplement their low salaries. >>>> 8/12/2019 9:29 AM >>> -Current Overall Staffing: 84.86% -Current Correctional Services Staffing: 83.70% -Number of Vacant Officers: 19 Number of officer positions currently being recruited (various stages): 41 - 4 Correctional Officers currently in new employee training (Introduction to Correctional Techniques - ICT) (started with 5, one resigned) - 2 additional Officers scheduled to start 9/15/19 - Since April 12, 2019, MCC New York has been approved for the following incentives: -10% Relocation Incentive -10% Recruitment Incentive - MCC New York has advertised on 97.1 FM, ran an add in the NY Times, and also ran an add in The Chief. - Held a career fair at 290 Broadway on July 30th with 174 potential applicants in attendance.
